Discovery Scuba Diving (DSD) is an internationally recognized program offered by PADI. This program provides a certified private instructor for a maximum of two participants and allows for a descent to a maximum depth of 40 feet (12 meters). It offers the privilege of diving twice from a boat in the Cozumel Marine Reserve, which boasts the second-largest reef in the world, without requiring any previous diving experience.
The water temperature in the area is 82.4°F, and visibility is excellent. The marine life in the area includes three types of sea turtles all year round, stingrays, spotted eagle rays, moray eels, giant lobsters, and a wide variety of other species and colors that can only be observed here. All these factors make Cozumel an ideal location for starting scuba diving and exploring the wondrous underwater world.
The day starts at 8:30 in the morning, and the participants arrive at the marina to attend a briefing on pressure changes in the body, buoyancy, and basic diving skills. They also learn how to measure and operate personal equipment.
After the briefing, the participants arrive at the boat and prepare their equipment. The instructor then provides a briefing on the dive sites, the environment, and the animals they are likely to encounter.
After the first dive, the participants return to the boat for a break and a light lunch as they head to the second dive site. After the two dives are completed, they return to the marina and then take a taxi back to their hotel.
